Cons: The first unit I received one of the threaded legs was machined poorly. I measured the threaded portion of the troublesome leg and it was .007″ smaller than the other three. This may not seem like much but it left minimal surface area for the threads to engage and that one leg ended up being “wobbly” and finally stripped out the second time I assembled the unit. I returned it to Amazon for a replacement. Not easy to assemble. I had to experiment with a number of different methods to find an acceptable process to put the unit together reliably and efficiently. Heavy. The tube and components weigh at least 1.5 lbs. Does not work well at high heat temperatures. If you build a roaring fire and place this unit in the center and then place a heavy pot of water on the grill to heat don’t expect it to hold up. The thin stainless steel grill rods will collapse under heavy heating when combined with a heavy weight.
Update: I received a replacement grill promptly from Amazon. And when I assembled it I discovered the exact same problem. One of the legs had poor threading and it immediately stripped out and was useless. Since I had not shipped the first unit back to Amazon yet, I was able to mix and match 4 good legs out of the 8 I had in hand and finally was able to put together a sturdy grill. I returned the two bad legs back to amazon with the first grill. If this breaks or warps like the others have warned I am done with this grill. Probably won’t purchase again.
great videos…..considering purchase of 59KL, is fresh water storage a limitation? What kind of fuel economy are you getting? Thanks in advance
I love it. Not bad compromise
Would love to see a follow up video on its cleanup and storage.
This thing looks pretty flimsy, will it last a whole season?
Do you get the good charcoal taste using a mat?
Great demo!try one of those tube chimney charcoal starter.paper in bottom charcoal on top raging coals quick. Can make or buy. Enjoy!
In the van we tow our travel trailer with we carry a Weber Jumbo Joe portable charcoal kettle …amazingly good small grill
I love charcoal grilling with fruit wood, but travel with my charcoal deluxe propane grill. I can grill up some tasty meals on that thing and there is now charcoal mess. By the time you pack enough charcoal you take about the same space. Great video, thanks.
Are you using the Mini model or the larger 13 inch size????
