Great video , I'm doing mine too! Thank u
This is the method I was taught to season cast iron but I have to disconnect all of my smoke detectors because even with fans set up to draw the smoke out, the detectors are so sensitive, alarms start going off all over the house.
Ms Linda, I have so enjoyed all of your videos! So much new learning going on and I love it! thank you for all your doing! keep it up!
Scrubbing with hot water and a piece of chain mail does wonders for removing the rust. Then you can go ahead and season as shown
THINK YOUR WONDERFUL! LOVE YOUR VIDEO'S. Keep them coming!!!!!
ooooh I love your top! So super cute!
"Retoring"? I know you meant "restoring".
where do u store bacon fat?
Linda, vinegar dissolves rust. Spray the rust area with vinegar, keep it wet for a while by respraying and then it will clean the rust right up. That way you aren't baking the rust into the layers of oil. You can research vinegar rust removal, and for that matter any mild acid will work, lemons, even ketchup. Its very cool! LOVE LOVE LOVE the dutch oven vids!!!
Could you do this process on the BBQ?
Hey Linda, I'm just curious why you didn't get rid of the rust on the lid before you started to season it? It seems like you would have gotten rid of the rust first.
Thanks, Linda ? For really bad, rusty pieces . . . any thoughts about sandblasting or powersanding with a wire-brush to take it down to bare metal as a first step in cleanup? Cast iron has always intimidated me, but I realize that once it is properly seasoned, it should last for decades! Always a pleasure to watch your videos! Thumbs up as always, Norfolk Joe xoxx
Thank you for this video. I've heard what to do, but it's so good to have a visual. Very helpful. Thank you. I did order a Dutch oven from amazon using your link. It came on Saturday. I was going to try it out today outside, but it is super windy today. So I'm making jelly from my blackberries instead. This afternoon I will season my fry pan again, but do it right this time. tfs
Hi Linda thank you so much for this tutorial I have always wanted to know how to season my cast-iron I also would like to know where you got your rooster egg holder I have chickens 15 handsAnd I would love that in my kitchen thank you honey
Will you show us how you made the fire pit to cook the cast iron on?
Linda, I have a question regarding the new preseasoned CI. Do you strip that off? And then season it this way?
Thank you so much Linda ,am going to keep an eye out for vintage cast iron as I still remember my Grandmothers from the late 1800s that got thrown out because it was rusty but not by me I might add.
